At Oak Intercultural Psychology INC, we value the time, commitment, and preparation involved in each therapeutic process. Appointment times are reserved specifically for you, so in order to provide consistent and respectful care for all clients, we ask that our cancellation policy be respected.

Clients are required to provide at least 24 hours’ notice for any appointment cancellation or rescheduling. Cancellations can be made by:

  • Email
  • Telephone

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may subject to a late-cancellation fee. For more details and information, please refer to our  Cancellation Policy  page.

Our therapists avail themselves of a combination of techniques and approaches to create an integrative framework of care best suited for your particular challenges and context. To learn more, please visit our Our Clinical Approach page.

Your first session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other and determine how you will be working together. Its main purpose:

  • To discuss what brings you to therapy, your current concerns, relevant personal history
  • To set goals for your treatment
  • To develop an initial treatment plan tailored to your needs

Your therapist will also explain how therapy works, answer any questions you may have, and review important topics such as confidentiality, informed consent, and the therapeutic process.

The first session is not about having all the answers, but about understanding your unique situation and beginning to build a safe, collaborative, and supportive therapeutic relationship.

Our fees vary depending on the type of service and the clinician providing your care.

  • Psychosocial Intervention: Starting at CAD $50.00 per 50-minute session
  • Individual Psychotherapy: CAD $87.50–$180.00 per 50-minute session, depending on the clinician's professional designation and level of experience
  • Couples and Family Therapy: CAD $200.00 per 50-minute session

Many extended health insurance plans reimburse psychotherapy services provided by registered psychologists. We encourage you to verify your coverage directly with your insurance provider.

If you're unsure which service is right for you, our team will be happy to help you choose the option that best fits your needs and budget.

Choosing the right professional depends on your needs, goals, and the type of support you are looking for. All of these professionals play an important role in mental health care, but their training and scope of practice differ.

  • Psychologist: A psychologist has advanced university training in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health conditions. Psychologists provide evidence-based psychotherapy and can assess a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and psychological concerns.
  • Psychotherapist: A psychotherapist is a regulated professional trained to provide psychotherapy. Depending on their professional background and licensure, they help individuals address emotional difficulties, relationship challenges, trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns through talk therapy.
  • Social Worker: Social workers provide counseling while also helping clients navigate practical challenges that affect mental well-being, such as family issues, community resources, housing, financial stress, and access to services. Their approach often considers both the individual and their social environment.
  • Psychosocial Intervention Specialist: A psychosocial intervention specialist focuses on helping individuals develop coping strategies, improve daily functioning, strengthen resilience, and adapt to life changes. They often work with clients experiencing stress, adjustment difficulties, migration, relationship challenges, or other psychosocial concerns, and may refer clients for psychotherapy when more specialized treatment is needed.

If you're not sure which professional is the best fit, don't worry. During your initial contact with our clinic, we'll help you identify the service that best matches your needs and connect you with the most appropriate clinician.

Most appointments are 50 minutes long. This allows enough time to explore your concerns, work toward your therapeutic goals, and conclude the session without feeling rushed.

Some specialized services, such as psychological assessments or certain family sessions, may require longer appointments. If this applies to your care, we will discuss the schedule with you in advance.
