About This Therapist
Héctor Becerra is a psychosocial practitioner with extensive experience supporting individuals and communities facing migration, displacement, trauma, and significant life transitions.
Before establishing his professional practice in Québec, Héctor trained and worked as a psychologist in Colombia, where he developed substantial experience with children, adolescents, migrants, asylum seekers, refugees, and individuals affected by situations of violence and forced displacement.
For nearly four years, he worked as a Psychosocial Specialist with Pastoral Social – Cáritas Colombiana, contributing to the development and implementation of psychosocial strategies for asylum seekers and refugees. His work included individual, family, group, and community-based psychosocial interventions, as well as the development of tools designed to support integration and adaptation processes.
His professional approach is grounded in attentive listening, respect for each person's lived experience, and an understanding of the social, cultural, family, and migratory contexts that can influence well-being.
At Oak Intercultural Psychology, Héctor provides psychosocial support and accompaniment. His services are distinct from psychotherapy and focus on helping individuals mobilize their personal and social resources, navigate life challenges, strengthen coping strategies, and adapt to significant transitions.
